Controlling system for monitoring parked cars.
The handheld PC’s communicate directly with a central server, running Sphynxx back office and administration software, via GPRS on a real-time basis. The handhelds can also support GPS (Global Positioning System) receivers for adequate location information.
The server software manages payment and non-payments through to the debt recovery process.
Due to its on-line nature the system also has the potential to detect and counter fictional or fraudulently issued tickets and (electronic-) permits.
For large scale ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) scanning by police or parking inspectors we have developed a mobile scanning solution for use in a car or on a motor bike. This enables ANPR scanning of cars parked at the side of the road. Driving through a street with a speed of approx. 40 Km/hr license plates are recognized and with the license plate information a central database is questioned. If a car is not allowed to stay in a particular area or e.g. listed in a stolen vehicle database, the information of the car, together with the date, time, car details and GPS location, are transferred to the closest inspector to perform a visual check or write out a fine.
For in car use the application runs on a built-in computer with a touch-screen display enabling the co-driver to visually follow the scanning process. If the mobile ANPR is mounted on a motor bike the driver just has to press a single button to either start or stop the scanning process. An indicator light will tell the driver whether the scanning process is running successfully.
